As many of you know by now, Josh Hart, the President and Founder of Operation Elf Box is riding his bicycle cross-country. He will be traveling 3100 miles from San Diego, California to St Augustine, Florida, sharing the mission and vision of Operation Elf Box. The Long Bike Ride begins this Friday morning; he’s not going alone, Josh will be joined by his faithful friend, Shoeless Jo (wonder dog). The Central Oregon Elf Crew and I are keeping an eye on things here at the Northwest Pole while also tracking Josh & Jo’s progress, providing updates, shipping supplies and setting up meetings and adventures along the way. Many other generous angel elves have already made the journey possible and more comfortable.
First big thanks go out to Tara Reynolds, an amazing elf. During the month of December she and her elf hubby faithfully served the children and families in Oregon, volunteering at Operation Elf Box. She has now committed another random act of kindness. One of the creative incentives created to thank our fellow elves for their support on GOFUNDME.COM is to own Josh’s Bike after the journey is complete. And now it will be going to Tara. Josh will be boxing it up when he arrives in St Augustine, Florida, and mailing the “Land Sleigh” back to her in Bend. What an angel!
Other Long Bike Ride Angels include some Elves who have gone above and beyond to get this journey started right!
Kristina, CEO of TurboPUP. You may have seen her on Shark Tank. She has a heart of gold and offered to feed my Shoeless Jo on this long bike ride in support of Operation Elf Box. Incredible!
Mike Martin and Jeff Schuler from Bicycle Re-source of Bend, founders of this magnificent nonprofit bike shop for getting Josh and bike all ready for the road!
EUGENE, OR. Company, Burley Bike Trailers hooked Shoeless Jo up with a chariot for a safe comfortable ride. With Jo as co-pilot Josh is sure to succeed in sharing the love and opening hearts across this great nation.
Ruffwear Performance Dog Gear, for dogs on the go. And Jo loves going, and going and going. Susan was beyond generous, offering Shoeless Jo everything he needs to be safe and comfortable. They even gifted him shoes.
Hutch’s Bike in Bend
Straw Propeller Gourmet Foods (http://www.strawpropellergourmetfoods.com) provided some healthy organic oatmeal so Josh can start each day with good solid nutrients and energy! Yum!!
“Be adventurous. Take chances. Live that good life.” That’s the mantra at Picky Bars . Jesse Thomas Triathlete is a pro, a four time Wildflower Triathlon champion and the owner of this delicious company. The crew has gifted a sampling to take along. Josh will be biting into flavors like, Cookie Doughpness, Blueberry Boomdizzle and Lauren’s Mega Nuts.
Thanks to Charlie and Josh, some new acquaintances, who handed Josh $100 each after meeting him over music at McMenamins Old St. Francis and upon hearing about his planned adventure for the cause just had to pitch in!
There is still more to do so please go to http://www.gofundme.com/operationelfbox and donate what you can to the cause.
